Position Description
Charter College is seeking a motivated and student-focused Student Enrollment Advisor to join our Enrollment Management team at our Anchorage, Alaska campus.
The Student Enrollment Advisor is a key member of the Enrollment Management team and reports directly to the Director of Enrollment Services. This position plays an important role in the enrollment experience by working directly with prospective and enrolling students to provide clear, timely, and high-quality financial guidance.
The primary responsibility of the Student Enrollment Advisor is to meet with incoming students and ensure they understand their financial options. This includes presenting available funding sources, assisting with required documentation, and guiding students through the financial process with professionalism and care.
The Student Enrollment Advisor is expected to provide excellent customer service, maintain timely communication, and explain financial information clearly and accurately.
The Student Enrollment Advisor does not make financial aid awards or approve funding plans. All financial aid decisions and disbursements are made by the Student Finance Department under the supervision of the Vice President of Student Finance and Student Records.
Duties and Responsibilities
Student Engagement and Service
- Meet with prospective and enrolling students by phone, video, or in person in a timely manner.
- Provide responsive, professional, and student-centered customer service.
- Clearly explain available financial options, including federal, state, institutional, and alternative funding sources.
- Help students understand how they can make their education financially attainable.
- Ensure students feel informed, supported, and comfortable with their financial plan.
Financial Guidance and Support
- Screen students for applicable funding sources and assist in identifying available options.
- Guide students through the financial aid process, including required applications and documentation.
- Provide entrance counseling to promote responsible borrowing and financial awareness.
- Review financial obligations with students and ensure they understand payment expectations.
Documentation and Compliance
- Collect, review, and submit required documentation to the Student Finance Department accurately and on time.
- Meet or exceed established deadlines for file completion and submission.
- Document student interactions and activities accurately in CNexus.
- Follow all institutional policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with Admissions to support a seamless enrollment experience.
- Communicate proactively with team members regarding student progress and file status.
- Direct students to the appropriate departments for issues outside the scope of enrollment advising.
- Support cross-functional teamwork to promote student success.
Performance and Accountability
- Maintain timely response to student inquiries and appointment requests.
- Maintain accurate and complete student files.
- Participate in training and professional development to strengthen financial aid knowledge and communication skills.
- Meet established performance expectations related to service, timeliness, and student engagement.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with VA certification and audits as required.
- Support departmental initiatives as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Skills
- All federal student loans must be in good standing to maintain access to NSLDS.
- Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining loan eligibility.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Customer service experience required.
- Experience in financial aid or student finance preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly and confidently.
- Ability to provide high-quality service in a fast-paced, enrollment-focused environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Positive attitude and strong sense of accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student information systems.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Schedule
Monday through Thursday: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Varied shifts may be scheduled within these hours.
Compensation
$21.00 to $23.00 per hour
Hourly, non-exempt position.
